No worries….

Greetings!!

This won’t be a long post. But I was having a random conversation today with Travis and he asked me something that really made me think. He asked ” What do you need out of life? Ever just thought about the bare essentials only and let everything else be….?” Now, I had to look at my phone and check the time because that seems like a question someone would ask when he’s high. Lol But it was early in the morning and we were both at work so I knew that wasn’t the case.

Anyway, I said to him that I really haven’t. He then stated that it was something to think about before being consumed in this world. So then I thought for a few minutes. I mean REALLY thought about it. And then here comes the “I’ve been in church my whole life” in me. I replied and said to him that the Bible tells us to not be consumed by this world. But we are conditioned that way. We always want more and we are hardly ever truly satisfied with what we have. That’s sad. We will work our fingers to the bone and try to keep up with other people. Why? For appearances? For attention? For fame? More than likely once we obtain the things we work for, we STILL will want more. Why? Because we don’t really TRUST God and believe that he will give us exactly what we need and if we’re faithful we’ll get WAY more than that. Food for thought….

I’m trying so hard to not go there tonight but here it is, in our conversation he said that(being consumed by this world) was in his mind while he was on his run yesterday. So it made him think about it more. Well I told him that we stress about things that we have no control over. That if we truly believe and walk by faith that like I said earlier, the things we want and desire will be given to us. Our needs will already be met because that’s God’s job. He takes care of us. We shouldn’t try to save up millions and millions thinking that we will be happy.

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[c] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[d] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money…”

Ooooh, did you catch that?? So again, why are you doing it? Why are we doing it? Why are we not leaning and depending on him and leaving the worldly things where they are if we’re truly living according to his Will? Think about it?

I was talking to my Mom last week while I was sitting outside on my lunch break. Let me paint the picture. Where I work there is a lake. Beautiful lake. It’s so serene and it’s also a great place to let God speak to you. Actually, now that I think about it, the whole conversation with Travis  was soooo predestined. Look at that. Well anyway, I said to my Mom, “I wish I was a duck…” She was like, ” Ok Keisha..” I said, “No, seriously. The ducks are here everyday. They have no worries. They swim. They talk to each other. Their needs are met. They don’t wonder what they’ll eat because they know they’ll get fed. They chill everyday! Who wouldn’t want that life?” … She then told me that we are supposed to be the same way. The bible tells us(You may not even have to go to bible study this week because I’m helping you…Lol) Matthew 6:25-34….

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Think about that. You don’t need to worry about anything. Pray about everything though. Don’t let the stress of bills, lack of relationships, tragedy, job situations, family problems, society, etc, take your mind off of who truly supplies your needs. Like my friend Charlotte always tells me, “You don’t control anything….”

It will feel really good to say, ” I aint got no worries….” you really shouldn’t. It’s already taken care of. It’s already done. Believe it and walk in faith. God has you covered. Hopefully, you’ll have another day and another “Chance” to get it right..

Be blessed.

Keisha
